Beloved Marriage in High Society - Chapter 63.1
Zhen Han couldn’t figure out why Yan Sui was so calm and collected. He stared into space for a moment and decided to help Yan Sui explain to Meng Ting, “Little sister-in-law, don’t take it seriously. It’s probably a cheat cut or edited.” Other than that, he couldn’t think of any other possibilities.
“Does…everyone have this photo at their home now?” Meng Ting didn’t understand what Zhen Han said at all. He was still trapped in the irritation of the photo and couldn’t extricate himself. His voice trembled as he asked Yan Sui, looking angry, tangled, and aggrieved.
Yan Sui pulled out the newspaper that Meng Ting grabbed onto a corner and put it on the edge of the table. He then scooped a bowl of porridge, picked his favorite dishes, and said, “No one knows it’s you.”
Any normal person would never think that this woman was Meng Ting, so it would be even weirder if they explained.
“Hahaha…” Yan Manjia finally couldn’t hold back the laughter, and she clutched her stomach while laughing.
Zhen Han connected Yan Sui’s words with Meng Ting’s and Yan Manjia’s reaction. He rolled his eyes abruptly once he realized what happened.
After that, there was no need for Meng Ting and Yan Sui to further explain as Yan Manjia started explaining to Zhen Han, including the conversations Meng Ting heard from He Wan and Li Yifei.
“Our Ting Ting baby is too beautiful. He looks just as good in a dress. Those people can’t even tell. Hahahaha…” Yan Manjia ignored Meng Ting’s blushing and depressed look and was very proud of her masterpiece.
After listening to Yan Manjia, Zhen Han took another look at the newspaper. He didn’t notice it before, but now he could see the resemblance.
However, Zhen Han was not paying attention to this. Everything around the photo was blurred. Apart from Yan Sui’s back, the people beside him and the environment were not very visible. It wouldn’t affect much even when Li Yifei and He Wan saw this photo.
“Are these two out of their minds?” Zhen Han placed the newspaper down and mocked them with a raised eyebrow. But Yan Sui was still comforting Meng Ting, while Yan Manjia laughed so hard that she hadn’t come back to her senses. Zhen Han couldn’t help rolling his eyes again, but he didn’t mind it in the end.
Yan Sui knew they would take action, and he just had to wait and watch the drama.
Yan Sui’s consolation didn’t play a significant role. Meng Ting still looked very depressed, and it might take some time for him to get over it. After breakfast, Yan Sui hugged and kissed Meng Ting for a long time before leaving.
Had it not been for Meng Ting’s unwillingness to go out, Yan Sui would have taken him to the company.
“I’m fine, as long as you forget about it.” Meng Ting looked at Yan Sui with sparkly eyes. Yan Sui pulled Meng Ting towards him and kissed him twice on the lips before getting into the car.
Meng Ting stood there and watched Yan Sui’s car leave. He pursed his lips, and it took him a while to recover. However, he still wasn’t sure whether Yan Sui had forgotten or not.
“So annoying, Yan Sui obviously doesn’t even remember it….” Meng Ting glanced gloomily at Rhubarb lying at his feet, then led it in. He assumed Yan Sui forgot it because he already forgot about it.
But it would be difficult for Yan Sui to forget the scene that made his heart beat crazily for the rest of his life.
Yan Sui’s public relations team was timely, and the news of Yan Sui was only short-lived in the morning newspaper. Although it didn’t cause more ruckus, those who should or shouldn’t know basically knew it. Many people held the idea of “as expected” regarding the suspected affair of Yan Sui.
They felt that it was about time for Yan’s family head to feel bored with Meng Ting after over two months. One by one, their gossiping spirits ignited, and all of them waited to see Meng Ting’s reaction.
However, Meng Ting was different from the ordinary wives of those families. He basically never attended banquets alone, and Yan Sui recently declined many social engagements, so there would be an even lesser chance for Meng Ting to show up in public. But no matter how they thought about it, they had no way of seeing it. At most, they could only guess Meng Ting’s frustrated look.
Yan Sui and Zhen Han went to work, and Yan Manja went to her art studio. Meng Ting walked Rhubarb for a while before he went back to the study. In the afternoon, Yan Mingya came to discuss with Meng Ting about the lab assistant and then left again.
Meng Ting ran to the backyard to mess with the flowers. Yan Manjia’s window was facing right at him. Her eyes lit up slightly, and she took out her drawing board. Inspirations erupted, and it came much smoother than her previous paintings.
Meng Ting didn’t know he became the main character of Yan Manjia’s painting. After he trimmed the flowers, he sat on the blanket that Uncle Xiao asked someone to set up and smelled the flower’s scent while recording data in a book.
He’s deep in his thoughts, and gradually put the mishap in the morning newspaper behind him again. He picked up Meng Qi’s phone and listened for a while before figuring out what Meng Qi was talking about.
“Yan Sui that bastard!” Meng Qi heard that Meng Ting didn’t make a sound for such a long time. He assumed that Meng Ting was just sad and became even angrier.
“No, Yan Sui isn’t, you are.” When Meng Ting heard Meng Qi scolded Yan Sui, he naturally became angry. He changed his position from lying down to sitting, his cheeks slightly puffed out, and if Meng Qi was in front of him, he could probably feel the cold and murderous aura.
“What kind of ecstasy did he give you!”
Meng Qi had his breath stuck in his chest, almost suffocating him to death. He really wanted to grab Meng Ting and shake him awake. He was afraid that Meng Ting would fall head first into this pit. Yan Sui was quick to find a lover. Meng Ting fell so deeply into the pit that he probably would suffocate himself to death.
“Yan Sui will never force me to take drugs.” Meng Ting frowned, “You misunderstood..”
“What?” Meng Qi waited for Meng Ting to explain further, but there wasn’t any sound coming out from the other side for a long time.
Then suddenly, the voice from the other side grew louder and startled him.
“The one that Yan Sui hugged was me, he will never hug someone else.” Compared to letting someone know that he wore a dress, Meng Ting didn’t like people misunderstood that Yan Sui hugged someone other than him. He then emphasized again, “Yan Sui is mine, he can only hug me.”
Meng Qi was shocked for a while before he came back to his senses. He stayed silent for a long time before he understood what Meng Ting meant, and his expression cracked a little, “Why are you wearing a dress out of nowhere!” Could it be that Yan Sui had such a special fetish?
“Hmph.” Meng Ting grunted angrily, “I’m not telling you. I’m hanging up, so don’t call me again. Hmph!”
Meng Ting looked at the phone and remembered that it was gifted by Yan Sui. In the end, he didn’t have the heart to slam the phone on the blanket. He hugged his knees, and his cheek bulged again, feeling angry as before.
On the other side, Meng Qi didn’t know whether to laugh or cry at the angry “hmph” of Meng Ting. He rubbed his chin and thought that maybe he was a bit too controlling. But he only acted this way because Meng Ting was so worrisome.
It’s rare for Meng Qi to experience such a rich emotion from Meng Ting, and it seemed that he was doing well around Yan Sui. He couldn’t help smiling when he remembered how Li Yifei sneered when she was looking at the newspaper in the morning. Well, the real outcome would disappoint her then.
However, Meng Qi didn’t put down his phone immediately. He hesitated for a moment and called Yan Sui. He had Yan Sui’s number a long time ago, but he never called it, and today it was time to make a call.
“I found out something about Little Seven and thought you needed to know.”
Yan Sui picked up the phone, and this was Meng Qi’s first sentence.
Yan Sui would naturally pay more attention to anything that related to Meng Ting. He stood up and walked to the French window before answering Meng Qi, “Let’s arrange a meeting to talk, I also have something to tell you.”
Meng Qi raised his eyebrows in surprise but didn’t refuse, “Sure.”
Meng Qi came out of his room and went to the backyard to bid goodbye to Old Master Meng and Feng Zejiao before driving his own car and leaving the old mansion. He felt little about it before, but right now, he felt more and more disgust at the rotten Meng family, including himself.
He found some information, which would have been most appropriate to discuss with Old Master Meng first. Still, Old Master Meng was the source of such chaos in the Meng family. If he really discussed it with him, it would be a waste of his hard work during this time.
Yan Sui had arrived when Meng Qi reached the tearoom. Meng Qi’s mouth twitched. Obviously, both of them were from the same generation, but Yan Sui acted like an old-fashioned young man. Who would actually have a conversation in a teahouse?
Meng Qi complained in his heart, but he didn’t dare show it on his face after he walked inside.
He sat down, and Yan Sui poured him tea. Meng Qi stopped talking in a fancy accent. He took out an envelope from his briefcase and pushed it to Yan Sui, “I secretly photographed it from Li Yifei’s room.”
This opportunity was difficult to find as Li Yifei’s servants were very loyal to her. He took a lot of effort to get these materials and used them to verify some other things.
“If you are willing to sue, you can send her to prison with these.”
The public opinions wouldn’t be that pleasant since Meng Ting was nominally Li Yifei’s grandson.
But the moment Meng Qi opened his mouth to say these, it meant that he supported Meng Ting’s and Yan Sui’s revenge.
Yan Sui didn’t respond to Meng Qi. He went through all the materials that Meng Qi gave him. The vast majority of them overlapped with what he found. Still, there was some information that he didn’t manage to find out, such as the location of the man who molested Meng Ting back then.
“He was sent to Southern Asia. It’s hard to say whether he’s dead or alive.” Meng Qi swept a glance at the page Yan Sui was looking at and added. From what he understood about Li Yifei, she’s that type of person that would get rid of all the roots and leave no loose ends behind since she was so ruthless to her own grandson.
“I will make sure if he’s dead or alive.” Yan Sui said, turning over the page and looking up at Meng Qi. His eyes studied Meng Qi, making him, who initially looked casual, immediately turned uncomfortable. Just like a middle school student being stared at by the discipline teacher and wanting to run away at any minute.
“It’s time to change the head of the Meng family, what do you think?” Yan Sui suddenly asked Meng Qi a question in such an unhurried and leisurely manner.
Meng Qi subconsciously quivered. The Meng family had angered Yan Sui to the point of him meddling in the internal inheritance. When someone else said something like this, Meng Qi would undoubtedly laugh at him for having such unrealistic self-confidence, but Yan Sui definitely had the resources to say this.
“You want to help my father?” Yan Sui shook his head the moment Meng Qi asked.
He then said cruelly, “He is spoiled until he’s useless by your grandfather, don’t you think so?” And it’s intentional as well.
Meng Qi had to nod. He recently understood a lot of things that he didn’t understand before. The so-called fairness from the Old Master Meng was actually the biggest eccentric and biased towards the second branch family and Li Yifei’s heart. His father and even himself were intentionally pampered and spoiled until useless.
Li Yifei’s plan, Old Master Meng’s silent consent, Meng family’s next generation inheritance, though the main branch family was legitimate, the actual situation was actually subtle. Meng Qi had the intention of pulling himself together, but if Old Master Meng and Li Yifei noticed it, he would encounter obstacles much larger than he expected.
“I will help you. But the Meng’s must be affiliated with the Yan’s during your time in power.” When necessary, even if it would ruin his family, Meng Qi must listen to Yan Sui.
Meng Qi’s eyes twinkled, but he couldn’t promise Yan Sui all at once.
“I can give you more time if you need to think about it. But there will be no changes in the terms of the agreement.”
Yan Sui’s words couldn’t be any clearer. At the same time, he was sure that Meng Qi wouldn’t refuse him. Originally he was not even 30% sure about inheriting Meng’s, but with his help, it would rise to at least 70%. Unless he was really useless from the inside out, he couldn’t refuse Yan Sui’s offer.
“I’ll accept it.”
Meng Qi answered. His hesitation just now was because he couldn’t understand why Yan Sui would be willing to help him. As for being affiliated to the Yan’s, it was actually a good thing for Meng’s overall development. Not to mention Meng Qi understood that any gain always came at a corresponding price.
Yan Sui nodded and then rightfully ordered Meng Qi to do something, “All of these, check these out for me as soon as possible.”
Meng Qi nodded, “I’ll note that.”
He responded with a slightly stiff expression. He still couldn’t get used to his suddenly changed role. Obviously, Yan Sui was still his brother’s husband a quarter of an hour ago, but now he had directly become the boss who could order him to do things.
Yan Sui and Meng Qi chatted for a while. Seeing that it was almost five o’clock, he got up and didn’t continue the conversation. Usually around five-thirty, Meng Ting would come and greet him at the door with Rhubarb and Furball, and he didn’t want Meng Ting to wait for him for too long.
After Yan Sui left, Meng Qi sat in the teahouse for more than half an hour before he got up and went back to his own residence. Unlike in the past, he already decided this time. Meng family belonged to him; it should be his in the first place anyway.
Li Yifei was good at figuring out what people were thinking, but Yan Sui was not bad at that either. His rationality made people feel afraid and intimidated. Simply letting Li Yifei go to prison was not enough, Yan Sui would destroy everything she cared about the most.
She once tried to destroy Meng Ting mentally, but now Yan Sui was just returning the same favor.
