Reincarnated as a Villager ~ Strongest Slow-life - Chapter 45
Chapter 45: A stick before you fall (fuseki).
“That’s right. How are the sales coming along?”
I forced myself to change the subject.
“It’s selling pretty well.”
That’s my girl. She could handle a subject you’ve forced her to change… she was a killer right in front of me… oh, yeah, it was amazing what a woman could do!
“It seems that words are spreading in Samulier and Balliar, and they came all the way here to buy it at our request.”
That’s good. I knew you were right to sell it cheap to a newbie adventurer.
Normally, the Adventurer’s Guild was where you make and receive requests. They buy herbs and demon parts (like horns, claws, and furs), but they don’t sell them.
But the guild staff were adventurers too, and they had to increase their request fulfillment rate to protect the adventurer’s guild’s name and existence (not to be meddled with).
Well, it wasn’t that we took requests for everything, but the guild was happy with requests that were easy to accomplish.
That was why a simple request to ‘sell it to whoever wants it’ was a great way to raise the achievement rate.
However, this was a guild (branch) of adventurers in the middle of nowhere. The hut itself was small, and the reception area was about six tatami mats in size, so you couldn’t put that many things in there.
I made a shelf in the allotted space and put arrows, throwing knives, leather belts, pouches, shoes, gloves, bags, and samples of backpacks there.
Of course, there were a few different shapes and sizes, but they were kept in the warehouse (which I built) and were brought to me by my sister upon my request.
“It’s especially popular for throwing knives with magic in them. The adventurer’s party that came yesterday bought a box of them.”
When a certain load was applied to the tip of the blade, the magic (like lightning or flames coming out) that had been sealed in the ward was activated.
It was the magic of Sapuru and Touta. Even orcs would be killed if it hit them. Moreover, it was twelve copper coins for ten sets. It was cheap, about 10,000 yen. Normally, these many magic-granting weapons would cost at least a silver coin each.
Furthermore, the throwing knives were wrapped in barriers so they could be reused as ordinary throwing knives (well, they’re not that tough, so I think they’re easy to chip).
“Also, spare knives are very popular. I’ve heard people say they’ll make them standard equipment at parties.”
Having a spare knife was basic, but if you had a reasonable javelin, it could be used as a spear, or if you buy a wide and special armor, it could be used as a shield. Of course, it was a barrier specification.
“It’s a good business as well as being a creator. I’ve brought some more to fill the gaps, so I’d appreciate your help.”
“I’m not complaining because it helps us increase our achievement rate and we get 30% of our sales, but I think we can raise the price a bit more. Twelve copper coins for a magic-granting weapon is not even close to being cheap.”
“It’s a small price to pay for an adventurer to be able to do that. If peace can be bought with money.”
The more adventurers we gather, the more peaceful this neighborhood becomes. The more they fight demons in a test of their weapons and kill the demons that appear on the streets, the more they put my slow life at ease, which was such a reward.
“Really, you’re way ahead of the curve.”
“Better safe than sorry, if you want a better life, you have to take the initiative.”
We had a life and family we wanted to protect. Every day, however small, creates a better future.
We knew this because we have memories of our previous lives that lived lazily and with inertia.
I know that true happiness is waiting for you when you live your life to the fullest…
