Seven Days Escape Game - Chapter 15
The old auditorium was much cleaner than the previous two days.
The tall and long windows on the wall at the south and north were clean and bright. Sunlight came through the windows.
The cobwebs around the corner were swept away with rejected application papers and the air felt less dusty, even the spectator seats were swept once through in turn.
The following task was to set up an altar but a day had passed and it was not too late to leave it to tomorrow.
Bo Ye patted the dust on his trouser leg and called Tang Zhi to go to the dining hall to eat.
Tang Zhi pulled out the white shirt he tucked into his skirt, letting the hem cover his pleated skirt loosely. He turned his hand over to scratch his back, “It’s all dusty, it’s uncomfortable.”
In spite of the slight sweat on the back of his shirt, Bo Ye tickled him and comforted him, “You can change into a new set when we go back.”
The closet in the dormitory was updated daily with a set of uniforms and they were tailor-made for the players.
The flip phones in their pockets sounded a beep at the same time, they walked to the door while taking out their phones to check.
It was an anonymous text message.
After opening the text message to read, Bo Ye and Tang Zhi walked slower and slower; and when they reached the entrance of the old auditorium, they stopped simultaneously.
They raised their eyes and looked at each other and they immediately understood that they had received the same message.
Bo Ye closed the lid, put his mobile phone into his trouser pocket without a hitch. He leaned on Tang Zhi’s shoulder and continue to walk out. There was a hint of satire in his smile, “Where there is people, there is gratitude and grudges. It’s not an exception in the game world.”
After eating, Xu Xing intercepted everyone downstairs in the dormitory building and they all gathered in the study room at the side of the hall.
At the long table, eleven people sat down.
Chen Liangzhi remembered his unhappiness during the day and when he saw Gu Meng and En Jin on the opposite side, he hardly concealed his enmity. The atmosphere in the study room was a bit rigid.
If the conflict had occurred two days ago, there might be people in the team who would act as a mediator but, now five of the sixteen people have died tragically. There was a serious split between the players into factions, it was hard to protect themselves and no one had the time to take care of other people’s affairs.
After making a headcount, they were all present. Xu Xing stood in front of the table and said, “Today I went out halfway through wanting to learn about the male teacher from the other students.”
Wang Kele: “Brother, when did you sneak out? I didn’t even notice.”
Xu Xing motioned to him not to interrupt and continued, “It was very unexpected. The male teacher has a good reputation and he was Chun Zi’s English teacher; because he had just graduated from college, he often mingled with the students.”
“Oh?” Shui Xing lifted her long dark hair, playing with her fingernails with her eyes downcast, “So he’s a beast in human’s clothing?”
Xu Xing thought for a while and didn’t immediately deny it, “It’s not impossible because there are rumours that male teacher and Chun Zi are very close, beyond that of a boundary between a teacher and a student.”
Tang Zhi suddenly thought of something. He took out a photo from the pocket of Bo Ye’s coat and put it on the middle of the table, “I took it from a classroom yesterday. It should be a photo of Chun Zi and the male teacher.
The player sitting far away stood up slightly and leaned forward to look at the picture.
Wang Kele rubbed his eyes, “Am I suffering from heatstroke? My vision is blurry.”
Zhang Guoqiang squinted his eyes and asked in confusion, “Why can’t I see the face of the girl on the left clearly?”
Tang Zhi explained, “It’s an issue with the photo. In order to prevent us from seeing Chun Zi’s appearance, it was automatically blocked.”
Qin Jingjing examined the male teacher and looked at him for a while, she said softly, “I think he looks quite kind, he doesn’t seem like a bad person.”
“Look at this man!” Cheng Liangzhi slapped the table and stood up as if he had made a major discovery, he pointed to the photo and proclaimed, “He doesn’t look like En Jin!”
The others: “……”
You’re not too good at pouring dirty water on others.1
Bo Ye leaned on the back of the chair in a leisurely posture and pressed his wrist towards him, “Tonsil, sit down. Now it’s not your turn to get irritated.”
Cheng Liangzhi saw that no one responded to him, he sat down.
“It might be that his hidden love affairs were found out and it caused a dispute, so she was pushed off the roof.” Shui Xing speculated, “It’s nothing more than a crime of passion between a man and a woman.”
“Everything is too ordinary and harmonious, there’s not notable conflict. From the information we have so far, apart from guessing the relationship between the male teacher and Chun Zi; understanding the backstory of the storyline as it unfolds, everything else is unknown.” Xu Xing pushed his glasses and said what he thought, “Let’s think about it carefully again, is there anything else that has been left out?”
Bo Ye’s fingertips tapped the desktop continuously and he said, “There’s something I want to ask.”
Then he took out his flip phone and threw it on the table, “Who has received this text message? And who sent me this text message?”
When it came to the text message, half of the people nearby averted their eyes and they didn’t even check the content of the text message on the phone.
“What text message?” Gu Meng was curious and took the phone over. After finished reading the text, he resisted his urge to swear and looked at the people on the other side, “The few who suggested to vote En Jin out in the morning, have you already formed an alliance?”
Zhang Guoqiang had never received the message, he asked for the phone. He scolded while reading it, “Who is it? It’s so absurd! Forming an alliance, this act is too unprincipled! Who initiated this message? Stand up!”
No one present moved.
“Let’s be honest everyone. What about the sharing of information that we’ve agreed upon? The more transparent the information among people, the more the werewolf can’t hide it.” Bo Ye looked at everyone’s expressions one by one, trying to find some clues, “Let’s do this. First, let’s make it clear, who received this message?”
Qin Jingjing took the lead in raising her hand and whispered, “I received it yesterday morning.”
Yu Mengmeng, who was opposite her, was in a bad mental state but she still had enough energy left to give Qin Jingjing a glare.
Wang Kele: “I received it yesterday.”
Shui Xing rarely wore an embarrassed expression, she raised her hand, “I received it on the first day and forwarded it to you and Tang Zhi in the evening of the day I received it.”
“Just these three?” Seeing that no one else responded, Bo Ye brushed this matter aside for the time being and he asked this instead, “Then who is the initiator?”
There was a stretch of silence in the study room again.
Bo Ye chuckled lightly, “Since someone is dishonest, take out all your phones so we can check them one by one.”
Wang Kele looked magnanimous, pulled his phone out and placed it on the table at once, “I still have the record in my inbox! I really received it yesterday and I just ignored it after seeing it.”
Qin Jingjing also took out her mobile phone, “I also ignored it because it was anonymous, I’m not sure who sent it to me.”
Zhang Guoqiang and Xu Xing cooperated in taking out their mobile phones too.
Finally, Chen Liangzhi and Yu Mengmeng were the only ones left.
Yu Mengmeng’s hair was dishevelled and she tugged it twice as she wanted. Her face showed she was uncooperative, “What’s the point of pursuing this? Why don’t we just vote?”
Chen Liangzhi looked very upset, with one hand in his pocket as if he was holding something.
Bo Ye lifted his chin towards him and said indifferently, “Classmate Cheng Liangzhi, what’s the problem?”
Dense beads of sweat came out on his forehead, Chen Liangzhi struggled. Ultimately, he stood up in determination and fiercely slammed his phone on the table, “I was the first to initiate it!”
He raised his hand to point to En Jin that was seated opposite of him and said, “I felt that there was something wrong with this person on the first day, hiding in the crowd and sneaking around as if he was observing something. I caught him looking at me several times and his gaze was particularly scary. It was as if staring a hole into a person.”
Gu Meng sneered, “Is it a problem with just a few glances? Are you a maiden? Does he have to cover his eyes if you don’t allow him to look?”
Cheng Liangzhi’s expression was ugly and pale, he was in an emotional state, “In any case, there’s a problem with him, normal people are not like him!”
In the centre of the storm, En Jin was very calm like others weren’t talking about him. He just lowered his head and focused on drawing on the paper before him, fully engaged.
Gu Meng rolled up his sleeves. He was about to get up and be tough on Chen Liangzhi but his wrist was held by the man next to him.
Gu Meng turned around to look.
En Jin pushed the A4 paper towards him with a tinge of shyness in his expression, “Does it look good?”
The man’s voice had always been low and soft.
Gu Meng looked at the paper in front of him, a blue-black coloured dandelion was on it. The drawing was close to perfection that the fluffy thing seemed to float out of the paper.
Gu Meng first did not rush to quarrel and complimented, “Very impressive, you are very talented.”
The corner of En Jin’s mouth was slightly tilted, he sniggered and pushed the paper towards him, “For you.”
Out of habit, Gu Meng taped the lower right-hand corner of the paper, “Write your name.”
En Jin said ‘Oh’, he took his drawing back and obediently signed his name at the lower right-hand corner.
Chen Liangzhi who was given the cold-shoulder: “……”
He looked at En Jin with a weird look and said, “He’s not a retard, right?”
“You’re a retard!” Gu Meng glared at him and made an offensive comment to him in the passing.
“Stop arguing, solve personal grudges later.” Bo Ye voice out to put a stop to it, he looked at Cheng Liangzhi and said, “You are the person who initiated the text message, so you’re suspected of causing disorder. Do we have any reason to not suspect that you are the male teacher?”
Cheng Liangzhi was startled, “You……Why do you think so?”
“It’s very logical to think so.” Tang Zhi supported his cheek with a hand and analysed calmly, “By exploiting everyone’s mentality of not wanting to be voted out by the team, you form an alliance through text messages. Thereby, dominating where the game leads. You set a goal at an earlier date, find a random reason, instigate everyone to vote out an innocent person. Then coupled with Chun Zi’s rate of killing two people a day, your chances of winning will be higher.”
Wang Kele stood up abruptly and screamed, “Sh*t! Brother, you can’t be! Are you really a male teacher?”
Yu Mengmeng looked a little shaken, she sat next to Chen Liangzhi and unconsciously moved to the side. She harped nervously, “It’s you? It’s you?……”
“I told you something wasn’t right.” Xu Xing pushed his glasses up, “His intention to kill was too heavy and had a clear intention to kill En Jin.”
Bo Ye leaned forward slightly and looked directly into Chen Liangzhi’s eyes, “But everything is a conjecture, you can justify yourself.”
Chen Liangzhi’s face was pale, he looked at the few who had clearly allied with him before, everyone looked at him in horror and suspicion.
He couldn’t help but panic inwardly and said incoherently, “When I sent the message……this……this……at first, it was not all……”
Just then, a bloody line spread from the corner of his forehead all the way along his temple to his chin and it was spreading to his neck.
Although the blood-red line was thin, the people around him could see it clearly.
Qin Jingjing raised her hands and desperately covered them over her mouth.
Bo Ye held Tang Zhi secretly, he was ready to stand up and warned, “Cheng Liangzhi……”
Chen Liangzhi lowered his head, he was unaware and was still talking endlessly, “It wasn’t all my idea at the beginning, everyone was in the auditorium, So me and Shi……er……”
Chen Liangzhi suddenly widened his eyes and looked forward. With a very light tearing sound, like there was an invisible hand that peeled his skin off his face.
He had a blood-red face, with only muscle tissues on his bones left but Chen Liangzhi was still alive, it seemed to be so painful that he couldn’t make a sound. He opened his mouth wide, showing white teeth. His eyes moved left and right in panic, almost about to drop out.
A few women screamed and retreated, knocked over their chairs. The others froze in place with their faces looking ugly.
A drop of blood was splashed on the edge of En Jin’s drawing paper and it bled on the white paper. He knitted his eyebrows and raised his hand to stroke that irksome drop of blood.
Then there was another tearing sound, louder than before.
The skin in front of Chen Liangzhi fell off very quickly.
The red bloody man without skin stood in place for three seconds, then he fell straight down and landed on the conference table.
En Jin quickly picked up his drawing paper and leaned back. He looked at the bloody man who had fallen in front of him, then looked at the paper in his hand and breathed a sigh of relief.
Fortunately, it didn’t get dirty.
