Chapter 100: Three Strikes As Offering

Contrary to the gloom inside the manor, it was a land of sunshine outside!

Using everyone’s hard work, Xiang City was quickly able to return to normalcy and the residents returned to their joyful life of building a city. They demolished all the buildings until they were unrecognizable and worked longer overtime at the workshops.

Although the incident this time left them in quite a fright, it wasn’t without its benefits. Compared to before, the Xiang City residents have become more united than ever. After seeing the youngsters, who they thought were incompetent, guard the city during the roughest of times, they were even more eager to hand over their daughters!

Thus, the marriage bell in Xiang City rang continuously for days. Some ladies married happily into their new family. But as for the rest of the ladies still in their chambers, they looked forward in hopes of the future. After all, the two men that every lady in Xiang City dreamed of marrying were still single! And, since they were getting to the age of marrying soon, they would have to find someone within Xiang City to marry. Then, didn’t that mean that they all had a chance to be chosen?!

It was as if all the good luck that was being oppressed before were being used at this moment. Not only was their quality of life improving day by day, but their two leaders were also the god of wealth and god of war! What a hard choice! Who out of the two adonis should they choose when the time comes?

But speaking of that, things haven’t been looking well recently. That was because Xie DaRen, who had always buried himself in work, hadn’t gone to work at the workshop, but had been going around shopping with a young lady! Something suspicious was going on between the two.

After the sounds of shouts were heard, a bunch of young ladies hid in the shadows spying on Xie Lin Lang who was buying rouge with Yu Ran Xiang.

At first, Yu Ran Xiang was very averse to going out because of how many people there were. But as she was brought out of the house more and more, she became more relaxed. At least, she wasn’t like the beginning, where she jumped at every little movement.

“Miss Yu, look! What do you think about this rouge? It’s the best in town!”

Yu Ran Xiang glanced at the rouge, not denying its quality. She had seen the best of its quality, but these days, she no longer used rouge anymore.

“With how I am now, I don’t have a use for rouge anymore. We shouldn’t buy it.”

Recently, they had been buying a big pile of things every time they went out, and it was all for her. She didn’t feel comfortable with Xie Lin Lang spending so much of his money on her like this.

After hearing her say this, Xie Lin Lang whispered in her ear, “Don’t worry, your actual cousin just gave me a large sum of money recently, so think of this as your cousin buying it for you!”

Then, without waiting for Yu Ran Xiang’s response, she spoke to the shop owner, “Take out this, this, and this color, and bring the rest of them to my manor, ten sets each!”

“Ten sets?!” Yu Ran Xiang tugged on her sleeve, “I can’t use that much…”

Xie Lin Lang shook her head, “In a few days, the rest of the ladies from the Xia family will arrive. How can girls not have rouge and powder on hand? Let’s go, upstairs is the makeup powder!”

The makeup powder in this time period didn’t contain much lead or mercury and used ingredients such as red and blue flowers, grains, and pearls. Due to its all-natural ingredients, it was fine for them to use so long as they rinse carefully after use.

Although Xie Lin Lang didn’t use any of these products herself, she wanted to buy whatever she landed her eyes on. Perhaps, it was just the girly nature within her.

However, seeing Xie Lin Lang’s generous spending toward Yu Ran Xiang made the other young ladies mad with jealousy!

“Who is this succubus, coming to our Xiang City and taking away our GongZi?! Look at the thick veil she’s wearing, I bet she’s really ugly underneath!”

“That’s right! She’s spent so much of Xie DaRen’s money already, how shameless!”

While they spoke furiously in the shadows, that was all they could do. Although she was covered in a veil, her posture and movements were clear indicators that she was a lady born of nobility; even the way she spoke was soft in tone.

If that was the type of girl that Xie DaRen liked, then he would never be interested in girls that caused a big scene. Well, it’s a good thing that they were well-mannered like her too!

Like so, Xie Lin Lang took Yu Ran Xiang out shopping until late at night, then took her out to the water drawing ceremony again early the next morning!
