Sara’s story (Part 2 of 2—Yuta’s POV)

My name is Yutarius Dan Yamaito.
I was the sixth prince in Yamaito’s royal family. However, I could no longer stand witnessing the people of the nation suffer from a corrupted government. I carried out a purge against the royal family. I killed my own parents and brothers with my own hands.
When the country had settled down to a certain extent, I intended to step down from the throne, but before I knew it, I was being feted as head of state. It was due to my aides saying: ‘When the country is in turmoil, it’s hard to get it back on its feet without a strongman watching over it’.
I had a big body, my face looked stern; well, what they said had some sense so I decided to sit on the throne as a temporary Head of State until the country’s government had settled down.
Although temporary, I was dragged into many things due to my position as the Head of State. This time, too, I was summoned to the audience room because there was a caravan from abroad bringing some rare goods. In the audience room, there were so many products on display that it seemed to take a long time just to look at them. It was tiresome.
I was about to call out to the caravan to quickly finish the business when one of the girls caught my eye.
When I saw the girl, Sara, for some reason, I felt very nostalgic. She suddenly started to sprang towards me. She was crying, reaching out her hand, and running towards me.
The escorting knights moved, drew their swords and headed towards Sara. At that moment, she would’ve been sliced down and killed if she continued to run towards me. That was why I stopped the knights right there.
It occurred to me that I couldn’t stand the thought of Sara being hurt. It was a feeling I couldn’t fathom.
Even so, right after, I regretted that I had stopped the knights back then.
Sara hugged me. She cried continuously and hyperventilated. And then she lost consciousness while holding on to me.
I had no choice. I really had no choice but to take her in my arms and take her to the guest room. Where else would I have taken her? Some people suggested that I should send her to jail, instead I glared at them. If you were going to look so pale just because I glare at you, then don’t bother uttering a word.
Despite being unconscious, Sara was holding on to me with all her might. I couldn’t get her off of me at all which led to me lying alongside her in the end. It was inconceivable that the head of the Yamaito nation slept beside a merchant. But, this was not the end of it.
When Sara regained her consciousness, she didn’t pull away from me. She was glued to me and this made her very happy. On the contrary, if I tried to get her off me, she would cry. She would wail and bawl.
Besides, Yamaito and Frialist both use different languages. I had no idea what Sara was saying. Of course, there was an interpreter in the caravan that came with Sara, but even the interpreter could not translate her words correctly; the interpreter incredulously said that Sara was saying things like I was cute and that she liked me so much.
The translation must have been misinterpreted. I guessed the interpreter was not that proficient.
In fact, I was hated and feared by all. I already had a stern face, but a spy wounded my face and it left a hideous scar. My current face resembled a monster. Even an adult male would be frightened when looking at my face.
On top of that, I was the murderer of my own family—regardless of how rotten they might have been. Everyone was always in fear that they would be killed by me at any moment. Naturally people might even hate me, but they could never like me. It was impossible that such a delicate girl would ever like me.
Once Sara had calmed down a bit, she started to try and take care of me. She didn’t even understand a word I was saying, but she kept trying to accommodate me.
When the country was still in turmoil, there were spies disguised as chamberlains, so I killed them all; this brought forth rumours that I would kill every single servant that was not to my liking without blinking an eye. Thanks to that, I had no personal chamberlains nor maidservants. Well, I could take care of myself, so it was no trouble at all.
So I didn’t need Sara to take care of my daily needs.

“Good morning! Can you wake up?”
When I woke up in the morning, the first thing I saw was a pink head. It looked soft and fluffy, and it was glittering with light.
“Still sleepy? But you gotta wake up~”
She squinted her sky-blue eyes and smiled at me.
“Let’s change closhes1? Can you do it by yourself? Do your best~”
Sara stood by the bed, holding my change of clothes in both hands.
Her words made no sense to me.
For some reason, Sara always ended up in my room. From the moment I woke up to the moment I went to bed, she wouldn’t leave me even for a second. It was really difficult to pull her away from me when she wanted to accompany me to the toilet or sleep together on the bed.

“Really, I’m so jealous that you have such a beautiful girl to look after you.” Zidane, a member of my aides, looked at me with a grin.
“I really can’t overlook you. I never thought that spring time would also come to Yutarius-sama.” Neal, another close aide of mine, softly smirked.
“I told you guys to shut up!”
Despite my grumpy face, it had no effect on these two at all. If it had been anyone else, they’d be running for their lives.
“All jokes aside, I’m sure Yutarius-sama is also fond of that pretty girl. Even though we can’t have an unidentified person beside our Head of State.”
“Who says I’m fond of her? She just won’t get lost.”
“Pfft. You’re saying, you actually were defeated by such a delicate girl?”
“She’d be crying so noisily, so I’ve no choice.”
“Yutarius-sama, who would mercilessly deal a crushing blow on those he dislikes, actually is defeated?
I was gradually cornered by my aides’ statements. My current situation was also beyond me. When Sara cried, I’d be at a loss for what to do. It made me panic and I just wanted her to stop her crying. I couldn’t even afford to think of chasing her out when caught in that situation.
“Yutarius-sama, who never had any shadow of a girl by his side, actually would even fall for a honey trap. Well, for someone that pretty, anyone would fall for her, I guess.”
“I told you, it’s not like that!”
“Did you do her already?”
“Well, well, look at this.”
Zidane gave the enraged me an annoyed glance and pulled out a letter from his pocket.
“Tomorrow the caravan troop will depart to return to their country. Sara told them that she’s leaving the troop to remain here with Yutarius-sama; but she had entrusted a parcel to them, asking for it to be sent to their country’s royal palace. And this letter was found hidden inside it.”
“Are you implying that Sara is a spy from Frialist, and from their royal palace to boot?”
Zidane’s explanation took Yutarius by surprise.
So, Sara is a spy? That’s why she approached me…?
“That’s highly possible. This was hidden inside the glutinous rice. We interrogated the caravan members, but all of them insisted that they know nothing about it. It didn’t seem that they were lying. Normally, we wouldn’t check this kind of stuff, but Sara had specifically asked the caravan to send some items to the royal palace, so we did a thorough check on them and this came out.”
Yutarius looked at the letter in Zidane’s grasp. He couldn’t believe that this whole time Sara was tightly clinging to him and brightly smiling at him were all lies…
“This letter was written in Frialist language. I’ll call the interpreter over.”
At Zidane’s signal, an interpreter, apparently waiting in the next room, came into the room.
“Please read this.”
The interpreter received the letter from Zidane and read it through silently. The interpreter’s face gradually changed as he read the letter. His face was rather peculiar. He was not smiling; he showed no anger nor surprise…
Oh, it was that face; like the clay figure from long ago seen in a historical museum, Haniwa2. He was having an expression like those clay figures.
“Hey, still not done reading?”
“Ah, yes. Urm… Is it really okay for me to read this?”
Zidane prompted the interpreter, who was reluctant to read the letter, but from his words just now, I wondered whether there was any state secret written in it. Tensions ran high.
“T-then, I’ll read it:
Dear Fania. I’m now in Yamaito country that I’ve yearned for years. It is a wonderful country with a nostalgic atmosphere. Guess what, the rice that Fania has been longing so much is here! I used up all my money to buy as much rice and glutinous rice for Fania, here I send them all to you. I don’t have enough time, so I haven’t found soy sauce and miso, but once I find them, I’ll send them as soon as possible.
I decided not to return with the caravan troop and stay in Yamaito country. I don’t know when I will be able to see Fania again, which is a great pity. Nevertheless, I have found someone I love here in the Yamaito country. I am happy and I am in great bliss now.
Fania, I was able to meet Yuta here in the Yamaito country. I missed Yuta to death but I actually managed to meet him. And now I am by his side. It is like a dream. I will never leave Yuta again. I want Fania to meet Yuta too. It’s because Yuta is soooo cute. There’s no one as cute as him.
Yuta can now cleanly eat spinach that he dislikes. I didn’t even need to chop them into small pieces, isn’t he great? I love it when he does his best not to show it on his face and just eats it, it makes me want to pat him on the head. And he can go to the toilet by himself at night, without me accompanying him. Look how clever he is!
When I noticed that he was surreptitiously leaving the room with a hand-candle in his hand while trying not to wake me up, I almost clapped my hands and it was hard to hold back. I had to keep pretending to be asleep because Yuta was so careful not to wake me from my sleep. My love for him swelled in my heart. Yuta is such a good and caring boy.
“STOP!” I hurriedly stopped the interpreter from continuing.
I couldn’t stand hearing it anymore. I could feel my face flushing red. Just why did I have to go through this torture?
Did she notice that I dislike spinach… No-no, that was not the point. More than anything, just what did Sara think of me?
Who was the idiot who called Sara a spy from Frialist?
I glanced at my aides. Zidane and Neal both had turned into Haniwa clay figures.
“Err, should I say ‘I wish you happiness’?”
Neil’s remark almost brought me to my knees.
chocolala: This author really knows how to make silly stories but cute nonetheless. At least Sara got her wish granted and obtained her ‘happy-ever-after’?
